About Me

Chertsey, Surrey, United Kingdom
Hello, I'm Jill - mother of three grown up children and wife to Geoff. I have been crafting one way or another for as long as I can remember. In the1990's I discovered quilling and in 2009 I began selling my quilled card designs online (https://folksy.com/shops/PaperDaisyCardDesign) - this continues to go from strength to strength. My blog "Paper Daisy Cards" features my handmade cards, quilled or otherwise! More recently I re-discovered rubber stamping and became an Independent Stampin' Up! demonstrator, showcasing and selling high quality paper crafting materials including rubber stamps, inks, cardstock, punches and dies. My blog "Paper Daisy Crafting" features my creations made with Stampin' Up! products, a list of all the papercrafting classes I run, all the latest news and offers and a link to my online shop , so that you too can join in the fun!

Quilled Valentine's card

So how is your weekend going? Mine has been the usual round up of catching up with the washing, cooking, shopping, cleaning and tidying, along with a fair few "taxi" trips taking teenagers here, there and everywhere. I'll be off again in a minute to take the oldest one to work.

But thought I'd just quickly try to drop in here to show you a newly designed quilled Valentine card.

I had several ideas for Valentine's Day cards for this year but I haven't been able to find a minute to get them made. Although this design looks very simple, new designs always take ages to tweak and this was no exception.

I had a special request from a customer on Etsy this week, in fact the same one who ordered the teacup card I showed earlier.
"Can u make me a cute first birthday owl boy card and somehow integrate monkeys too?? I need this one quilckly as party is next saturday....I don't want one as expensive."
I very politely declined!  Makes me think that the amount of time that goes into quilled cards is not always appreciated.

Well that's it for me today. Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Jill xx

Quilled gift tags

Hello again,

I'm back, this time to share some pictures of some sweet little gift tags. Whenever anyone orders from my shops on Etsy or Folksy, I like to enclose a little something as a thank you and recently I have been sending one of these tags with orders.
I've decided to sell these in sets in my shops. This set is the pastel set, with two tags each in pink, apricot and peach.
And this is a "brights" set, with yellow, purple and turquoise.

These tags look really cute on presents wrapped in white tissue paper and coloured ribbon. They are very quick for me to make with just one little fringed flower in the centre of the die cut daisy.

What other colours do you think I should make?

Quilled teacups card

Hi everyone,

I'm late posting today. Have been busy, busy, busy, making cards for orders. There never seems to be any rhyme or reason as to why sometimes I have loads of orders and at other times go for days with nothing! Ah well, shouldn't complain.

Today I have a new card design to show you. This was a special order for a customer who liked the flowers and colours of this card:

but wanted a card for her mum's 60th birthday, when she was going to be throwing her a tea party. So she asked if I could do a card with teacups on it.
So after much playing with colours and layouts this is what I came up with:

Let me know what you think!

I'll be back next week with some pretty quilled gift tags - come back and visit me then!

Til then, have a great week,

Paper Daisy in the press

Hello again!

Towards the end of last year I was contacted by the editor of Papercraft Inspirations magazine to ask whether I'd be interested in being featured in their series of articles focusing on card makers who sell their cards. After I'd agreed, she sent through a some questions for me to answer and I sent back my responses along with a few photos of my cards (and a requested picture of me - as I usually avoid the camera lens, getting a photo of me that I approved of was not an easy task!)

The article was published in the January 2012 issue of Papercraft Inspirations magazine, which was on the shelves on December 21st 2011. It's still available in good newsagents, if anyone wants to get hold of a copy!

Well, that's it for me for today. I have just completed a special order card - the customer wanted a card with teacups as she is holding a birthday tea party for her mum. I'll try and post pictures of that next week. I also have some ideas for new Valentine card designs - just hope I can get time to make them before it's too late for this year!

Until then, have a good week.

New crafty blog for the new year!!

Is there anyone there?

Well, my new year's resolution (along with the other more usual ones of losing weight, taking more exercise etc etc!) was to start a blog and here I am on the first day of 2012, making my first post. Just to make things clear from the start, I know I won't be able to post on here every day. For the moment I will be posting at weekends so please come back once a week to see what I've been up to.

I'm hoping this blog will be a place where I can share some of my creations and inspirations with you.

To let you know a little bit about me I'm Jill, fifty-something, mother to Jessica (18), Joe (16) and Annie (14) and wife to Geoff. During the day I work for Surrey County Council as a specialist teacher, helping and advising other teachers on meeting the needs of the special needs children in their classes.

But my passion is for papercrafting, especially card-making and specifically quilling. I currently sell my cards online via two sites: Etsy and Folksy, under the name of PaperDaisyCardDesign. I'm sure eventually I'll work out how to put buttons on here to link straight through to my shops, but meanwhile the links are:
http://www.paperdaisycarddesign.etsy.com/ and http://www.paperdaisycarddesign.folksy.com/

Just to start this blog off, the images in this post are of two New Year cards I made today. I have used the Quickutz Studio alphabet dies for the wording and the 2" x 2" confetti die. No quilling on these cards, obviously, but I do have lots of quilled cards to show you so please come back next weekend!

Meanwhile Happy New Year to all my readers.......anyone????
